Just say Happy Holidays and forget about it already
As if this time of year couldn't get any more aggravating, here comes some ridiculous time wasting argument about the "attack" on Christmas. Apparently by taking into consideration the other holidays found in the month of December, we are doing the equivalent of spitting on the baby Jesus and kicking the wise men in the nuts. What an absolute load of crap.
The day after Thanksgiving we are bombarded with cartoon santa's, chirping carolers and constant suggestions on how we can buy our families love this season. There is no avoiding it, it is everywhere: our radios, television programing, grocery stores, hell even porn shops get in on the action.
Is the Christian religion so fragile, so minority a belief that its central holiday can be demeaned by acknowleding that there are other holidays? I'm thinking no. Christianity is even more prevelent this month than fruitcake, if you don't believe me then have a looksy at the greeting card section in your local grocery store. Look for a Christmas card. Any trouble? No, I didn't think so. Now look for a Hannukah or Kwanza card. Find more than three? Give yourself a pat on the back, you live in a fairly progressive area of our beautiful nation.
Oh, and do banks, grocery stores and every other business in the continental United States close down for Kwanza? Yeah, thats what I thought.
And one more pop quiz...
What day is Kwanza anyway?
There you go. I think the sacred day of spoiling our children rotten and running up our credit card bills is safe.

Here's the problem that I have with 'Happy Holidays'.
Trust me, I lurch out that phrase even in text while I make a face generally reserved for the sickly sweet stench of a smashed cockroach. You know I have no problem offending people, and I know you certainly share a fondness for it, but the entire politically correct movement is married to a disgusting trend of passive-aggression.
I don't believe that it's so much that we are saying Happy Holidays *blech* to acknowledge the other denominations religious holidays so much as we are eternally backing down from loud-mouthed special interest groups with a political axe to grind and/or a legion of jilted fathers with a litigious bent and a hatred for the Pledge of Allegiance. We, America, are beset from within due to the liberties we were founded upon. Every day one cannot help but be reminded of how fortunate that we are to not be another extremist Muslim city-state or a gigantic Asian communist regime. This reminder is tainted though thanks to the fervor with which it is wielded to champion trivial causes. It is an abuse and an insult to the spirit with which these liberties were designed and laid down by our fore-fathers while still adhering to the letter of the law.
Furthermore, this country is primarily Christian. Unhappy as some may be with this it is a fact. I am not one to evangelize my religious views but at the same time I don't want my religion stepped on to please someone's desire to grinch up the season. You see it as the religious right seeking to smother all other religions and viewpoints, I see it as the liberal left attacking the largest target in sight, true to form.
Damn I miss debating with you.
PS. I hate Jesus Fish.
